Sesame Street Diaries

It's been a little while since our last post, so we thought we would go high tech on you with some video footage of Conor hitting the Sesame Street section of Sea World. Bert, Ernie and the Cookie Monster are some of Conmans favorites. They are our favorites as well, becoming the secret weapon when things are going haywire. This is Conor meeting his heroes and spreading the love.

Do you smell something?

So Halloween has come and gone but this year being Conors second Halloweeen proved to be a big day in the 16 months of his already hilarious little life. Conor was a monkey last year which was a great outfit but this year Kelly and I scoured stores for the right outfit. I first got him a bat outfit. The bat wasn't bad, but it didn't seem like the right suit. Then Kelly got him the T-Rex outfit which was cool as well but the head was a problem, Conman refused to wear it. We settled on a Skunk outfit and it was a big hit. We spent the day with his cousins who went as Barbie and two transformers. Nana and Papa were there to get him outfitted as well as Uncle Kieth Aunt Gina, Ginas mom Marilyn, and her sister Nicole and her husband Brian. Conor playing piano in a skunk outfit was classic. Ever wonder what happens to a 16 month old when he eats butterfingers and chocolate cake? I used to. It aint pretty.

Smashing Pumpkins

You can't just go to your local grocery store and properly buy a pumpkin, you have to search it out. It's a quest where the prize is the gem you find in the back of a pumpkin patch that has just the right look for All Hallows Day.

Conman was ready to hook it up with the Playgroup in the Lakeside Pumpkin Patch where they had a meeting. Starting the day out in one of those bad moods reserved for post nap blues, Conor wasn't going for the Charlie Brown favorite of the Pumpkin Patch. He was having none of it.

Like all things with 1.5 year olds, the moods change quick and all of a sudden we were on ponies riding at mach 2 holding moms hand, and looking around for the perfect Jack O Lantern. We never did find the perfect pumpkin, but we did have a great time in our search. Afterall, it's all about the journey, not the destination.

I'm ready for my closeup

Conor has been a great model lately for some portraiture that I have been working on. As he will tell you, being a supermodel isn't all that it's cracked up to be. The long stretches of waiting for makeup and the light to be just right, blended in with the constant buzz of some art director telling you when and where to step, it takes its toll.

We are still looking for the big contract that will put him through college free, possibly a Gatorade ad or Abercrombie and Fitch would do............

Sit down hippy!!!

With the kids in play group giving Conman a hard time for being a hippy, we thought we would get the lad a haircut. We went to a special kids barber that had cool murals, barber chairs like planes and race cars, and fun stuff to play with while someone cuts your hair. At first Conman wasn't having it, he ejected out of the Blue Angel plane refusing to get a cut while doing mach 2. He ended up in Kellys lap getting a pretty nice cut.
Now he is ready for the ladies of playgroup. Rico Suave.......

The ONE

Conman has made it to one year old, on July 4th 2008 we had a birthday party with a cake (elmo cake of course) and a lot of fun with Gene and Celia as well as the whole neighborhood during our annual block party. Conor took it all in with the local kids and neighbors having a great day.

Down but not out

While this blog is for Conor, one of his best friends has been out of action for about a month now. Dude our dog had to have surgery to repair his shoulder leaving him unable to go to the beach or for walks at Sunset Cliffs. This may not seem like a big deal to most people but to us it is huge. Dude needs exercise, and without it, he is out of control. He barks when Conor is asleep, he barks at anything that moves really. Conor has shown sympathy by dropping table scraps to dude, only adding to his weight. We hope to have Dude on his routine soon.

Doug comes to town

lo

Our good friend Doug Pensinger was here visiting from Denver, Colorado after covering the US Open at Torrey Pines and lent us some insight into child rearing seeing as his daughter Devon is so cool! Doug hung out for a few days with Conor and Us and we had a great time.

If Everybody had an Ocean, Across the USA

As most of you all know, Kelly and I love the beach and go regularly. We hope that this will be a big part of our lives with Conor. The last few days we have taken Conor to the Beach for his first taste of a great place to spend time. Like most of the new thing he has done, he lunged head first into the water going down in dramatic fashion. We can't wait to get him on a surfboard.

One Huge Step for Mankind.......

The Conman took his first steps on Tuesday June 17th in our living room. We had a witness in Doug Pensinger who was visiting and took photos. Conor had been cruising around the living room unattended but was using things to keep his balance, then POW! He just let loose and linked about 5 steps together to walk between Kelly and Dad. Getting a little ahead of himself he took off again, this time going what we have termed going Caesars Palace after Evil Kenevil did on his Caesars Palace jump here he broke most bones in his body. Conman got up speed then went headlong into a pile of toys. Stunned he looked around and was ready to go again. This appears to be the end of the world as we know it.

Mothers Day

This Mothers Day was a special one for us. Kelly has been such a great mother to Tenacious C that we wanted to spend it just hangin out. We went to the Childrens pool in La Jolla to watch seals swim around and had a nice day just taking in the beach. Conor has really developed into a great little kid, and Kelly deserves the bulk of the praise on this, she is tireless in taking care of him.

I get around.......

So the new move is for Kelly to give Conor to me while she is training for the Rock and Roll Marathon in June. The only problem is that he tends to want to nap. To solve the problem I got this backpack that lets him hang out while I walk for an hour to get him to sleep. Its like puttting him in the car seat and driving around, but in this case, your thighs hurt for days after an hour of hills.

Run don't Walk

Kelly and I have developed bad backs recently as Conor tries to make his way walking as we bend over holding his hands while he runs through the house. To ease this, we got this walking contraption that allows him to bang his way through the house scaring the hell out of Dude as he goes. We have a few speed bumps around to slow him down. We have come to the realization that we are doomed in about two months when he nears walking on his own. To compliment his walking , Kelly and her mom got him his first pair of shoes. These weren't just any pair of shoes, they had to be 2XX in size since his has such a big foot.
